In the 2024 MLB Draft, Travis Bazzana was selected No. 1 overall by the Cleveland Guardians - making history as the first Australian ever chosen first in the MLB Draft.

Colin Ridgway was the pioneer Australian in the NFL, playing in 1965 as a punter. A notoriously hot country, Australia has only had a couple of NHL representatives - Nathan Walker and Jordan Spence. Nathan was the first Australian-born and raised player to be drafted (in 2014, by the Washington Capitals, 89th overall) and won a Stanley Cup in 2018 with Washington. Jordan was born in Australia but raised in Japan and Canada and was drafted by the LA Kings in 2019 (4th round, 95th overall).
